Zwolle, LA (11/14/2024) – A Zwolle police officer was suspended without pay after a Facebook video revealed him using racial slurs.
Patrol Officer Kevin Rivers was identified as the individual in the video, according to Zwolle Police Chief Daniel Thomas.
Chief Thomas stated that Rivers was placed on unpaid leave on Thursday, November 14, after the video surfaced. The chief plans to recommend Rivers’ termination to the Zwolle City Council. Rivers remains suspended while the council considers the recommendation.
In the video, Rivers repeatedly used racial slurs and made accusations against Chief Thomas. Chief Thomas denied these accusations.
The mayor and town council were notified of the video. Chief Thomas assured the community that such behavior is not tolerated by the Zwolle Police Department.
A decision on Rivers’ employment is pending the council’s review. The department has emphasized its commitment to maintaining integrity and trust within the community.
