Acadian Ambulance Highlights “BE FAST” Signs to Help Identify Stroke Emergencies

May 6, 2026 – During National Stroke Awareness Month, Acadian Ambulance emphasizes the importance of identifying stroke symptoms and responding without delay. Using the American Stroke Association’s BE FAST guidelines, the public can help identify strokes early and improve outcomes through faster emergency response.

Strokes happen when blood flow to the brain is blocked or disrupted, making it a true medical emergency. Acting quickly can limit brain damage, reduce the risk of long-term disability, and improve the chances of recovery.

Know the Signs: BE FAST

  • Balance Loss
  • Eye (Vision) Changes
  • Face Drooping
  • Arm Weakness
  • Speech Difficulty
  • Time to call 911

In stroke care, every minute matters. Brain cells begin to die quickly when blood flow is interrupted, making it critical to recognize symptoms and respond right away. Calling 911 ensures trained EMS providers can start care immediately and get patients to the right stroke center as quickly as possible.

Acadian Ambulance continues to support education efforts that help communities recognize emergencies and respond effectively.

Acadian’s National EMS Academy offers EMT training at its campuses across Louisiana, Texas, and Tennessee. For more information on upcoming classes, visit www.BecomeAMedic.com
