GRANT PARISH, La. (5/13/2026) — Community members in Grant Parish are preparing to take a stand against domestic violence during a special awareness event scheduled for Saturday, October 3.
Organizers announced the event as part of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which is recognized every October across the country.
The domestic violence awareness walk will raise support for victims while encouraging education, prevention, and community involvement. According to organizers, proceeds from the event will directly help victims of domestic violence in Grant Parish.
In addition, the event will feature the LifeShare Blood Center mobile unit on-site. Organizers are encouraging residents to donate blood and support efforts to save lives.
“It’s in your blood to save lives,” the promotional material states.
T-shirts supporting the awareness campaign will also be available for purchase during the event.
Meanwhile, organizers are still accepting vendors and booth participants. Anyone interested in setting up a booth can contact D.A.R.T. Advocate Amanda White at 318-627-5575.
Domestic violence continues affecting families and communities across Louisiana. Therefore, advocates say events like this help bring attention to resources, survivor support, and prevention efforts.
Organizers are encouraging the public to attend, participate, and help spread awareness throughout the parish.
“Awareness saves lives… Get involved!” the flyer states.
