Alexandria, LA (11/17/2025) – GAEDA opens new downtown headquarters today as Alexandria enters a new chapter of economic growth and community investment.
GAEDA opens new downtown headquarters on Friday, November 14th as Alexandria enters a new chapter of economic growth and community investment. The new building at 720 Murray Street signals renewed momentum in meaningful development that benefits all residents. The move also represents stability, opportunity, and a clear commitment to Alexandria’s future.
The headquarters gives GAEDA a permanent home after decades in temporary spaces. The organization will now manage its work from a central location and lease offices to local businesses. This approach creates new revenue, increases collaboration, and strengthens Alexandria’s commercial landscape.
Executive Director Angela Varnado said the new building represents permanence and shared responsibility. She noted that GAEDA’s presence downtown shows the city that progress still lives here. The space will serve as a hub for innovation, partnerships, and community impact.
Pastor Frank Jackson described the moment as historic. He said GAEDA has returned to the heart of Alexandria’s economic corridor. He added that this move shows real ownership and commitment to Central Louisiana’s advancement. Jackson also urged unity, stressing that economic development succeeds when government and community leaders work together.
Commissioner Ronald Morgan said he felt humbled by the strong show of support. He noted how quickly GAEDA has uplifted the community. Morgan said the new headquarters gives the organization the momentum needed to deliver results that residents expect.
Councilman-at-Large Jules Green said he was elated to see GAEDA secure a permanent home after more than two decades. He said the building strengthens GAEDA’s ability to serve Alexandria and move the city forward. Green added that the headquarters reflects vision, resilience, and hope.
Rick Horton, Vice President of the Mid-Louisiana Chamber of Commerce, said the ribbon-cutting marks the beginning of something important. He said the move shows residents that opportunity remains within reach. Horton also spoke about the need for broader representation and noted long-standing gaps in community participation.
GAEDA leaders say the headquarters marks the start of a new era. They plan to invest boldly, support businesses, and expand development activities that strengthen Alexandria. The organization believes the city’s best days remain ahead.
As the ribbon fell, the message was clear. A new chapter opened, and Alexandria is ready to move forward together.
