Bunkie, La. (5/1/2026) – The family of an 18-year-old Bunkie High School student is asking the community to come forward with answers after a shooting left him seriously injured.
Now, loved ones are calling for help in identifying who shot BJ. They are urging both the public and law enforcement to continue pushing for answers.
Early last month, the Bunkie shooting BJ Investigation began after gunfire erupted near Keller Street and South Mable Street. The incident happened around 10:28 p.m., according to police.
Officers arrived and found BJ suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. First responders treated him on scene before transporting him to a local hospital.
Investigators said BJ and others were walking to a friend’s house for haircuts when a suspect approached and opened fire. The suspect fired multiple rounds before leaving the area.
So far, police have not identified a suspect. However, Bunkie Police say they are actively following up on all leads.
UrbanCast reached out to BPD. Officials confirmed they remain in contact with the family while continuing the investigation.
Meanwhile, BJ’s family is sharing more about who he is beyond the headlines. They describe a student preparing to graduate from Bunkie High School.
He maintains a 3.2 GPA and balances academics with athletics. He plays shooting guard on the basketball team and also runs track.
His work earned him All-District Honorable Mention recognition. In addition, his family says his faith continues to guide his growth and character.
They describe BJ as respectful, focused, and supported by a strong foundation at home. He is the son of Broderick Allen and Yolanda Allen.
Looking ahead, BJ plans to become a truck driver. His family says he is determined to build a stable and independent future.
However, that future now faces uncertainty as they wait for answers.
