Alexandria, La. (UrbanCast: 9/8/2026) – Rapides Parish sheriff’s detectives are searching for an 18-year-old after gunfire struck two homes early Monday morning.
Deputies responded to the 1800 block of Community Lane around 3:29 a.m. following a report of shots fired.
When deputies arrived, they found two residences damaged by gunfire, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Deputies also found multiple shell casings in the street.
During the initial investigation, deputies located a firearm inside one of the damaged residences. However, investigators have not determined whether that firearm was connected to the shooting.
Sheriff’s detectives and the Crime Scene Unit responded to process the scene and collect evidence.
As the investigation continued Monday, detectives identified 18-year-old Dataevious Deontae Taylor of Alexandria as a suspect.
According to RPSO, detectives secured warrants for Taylor’s arrest on three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm. He is also wanted on one count of attempted second-degree murder.
RPSO describes Taylor as 6 feet, 1 inch tall and approximately 170 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
Detectives say Taylor should be considered armed and dangerous.
The Community Lane shooting came one day after another shooting early Sunday morning in the Kelley Land area.
However, detectives say it remains too early in both investigations to determine whether the incidents are connected.
Both investigations remain active.
