Alexandria, La. (UrbanCast: 9/8/2026) – 18-year-old wanted in connection with Monday’s Community Lane shooting has turned himself in to Rapides Parish authorities.
The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Dataevious Deontae Taylor of Alexandria.
According to RPSO, Taylor surrendered to deputies late Monday night. Deputies took him into custody without incident and booked him on outstanding warrants.
Rapides Parish jail records show Taylor was booked at 10:40 p.m. Monday, September 7.
He faces three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and one count of attempted second-degree murder.
Taylor remained at the Rapides Parish Detention Center I when RPSO issued its update. No bond had been set.
The arrest follows a shooting reported around 3:29 a.m. Monday in the 1800 block of Community Lane.
Deputies responding to the scene found two residences damaged by gunfire. No injuries were reported.
Investigators also recovered multiple shell casings from the street.
Deputies found a firearm inside one of the damaged residences. However, investigators had not determined whether that weapon was involved in the shooting.
RPSO identified Taylor as a suspect as detectives continued investigating Monday.
Authorities initially warned that Taylor should be considered armed and dangerous while they searched for him.
RPSO has also been investigating a separate shooting that occurred early Sunday in the Kelley Land area.
Investigators previously said it was too early to determine whether the two shootings were connected.
The Community Lane investigation remains ongoing.
