RAPIDES PARISH, La. (UrbanCast : 7/5/2026)— The Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office has confirmed that Kendrick Dotson, 43, died after suffering a gunshot wound during the shooting on Hall Street in the Grundy Cooper Subdivision on Saturday, July 4.
According to the coroner’s office, Dotson succumbed to his injuries Saturday evening at Rapides Regional Medical Center. A standard autopsy is pending.
The shooting occurred in the 5000 block of Hall Street, just off Louisiana Highway 28 West, only blocks from the Alexandria city limits. The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office previously reported that two people were shot. One victim was transported to a local hospital by an EMS provider, while the second was transported by a civilian.
UrbanCast also spoke with the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer early Monday morning. He said he had not yet been briefed on the latest developments and was unable to provide additional details. He added that investigators worked throughout the night processing the scene, collecting evidence, and continuing the investigation. An official update from the sheriff’s office may be released later Monday.
The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office has previously stated there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active.
