RAPIDES PARISH, La. (11/26/2024) – A Ball man was killed in a crash on Gilly Williams Road at Obanion Road in Rapides Parish on Sunday afternoon. Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to the scene at approximately 3:20 PM on November 24, 2024.
The victim, 27-year-old Brandon L. Whatley, was driving a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound on Gilly Williams Road. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway, went down a ditch embankment, overturned, and struck a tree.
Whatley, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Routine toxicology tests were conducted, and the crash remains under investigation.
