Alexandria, LA (9/1/2024) – On Saturday, August 31, 2024, at approximately 6:55 PM, the Alexandria Police Department (APD) responded to a shooting at the intersection of 13th Street and Elliott Street.
Officers arrived at the scene and found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was quickly transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
Although the APD press release did not specify the victim’s condition, several witnesses at the hospital reported that the facility was placed on lockdown, suggesting the victim’s condition might be critical.
UrbanCast arrived on the scene around 7:26 PM and observed that APD patrol officers had secured the area and appeared to be waiting for crime scene detectives and investigators to arrive. The Alexandria shooting on 13th and Elliott Streets has raised concerns among local residents.
APD has not yet confirmed whether this incident was isolated or if the public should remain alert. Additionally, no motive for the shooting has been provided at this time. The investigation is ongoing, and APD urges anyone with information to come forward.
