Monroe, La. (UrbanCast: 9/16/2026) – Louisiana residents interested in deer hunting can learn the basics during an upcoming beginner’s course in Monroe.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will host Bucks and Does: Deer Hunting 101 on Saturday, October 10.
The three-hour class will run from 9 a.m. until noon at the LDWF Monroe Office. The office is located at 368 Century Link Drive.
Experienced LDWF staff will teach participants the fundamentals of safe and ethical deer hunting.
The course will cover hunting regulations, equipment selection, deer behavior and scouting. Instructors will also discuss proper shot placement.
Additionally, participants will learn about recovering harvested deer and basic field dressing techniques.
LDWF designed the introductory course to make deer hunting more accessible to beginners. The agency will emphasize safety, conservation and ethical hunting practices.
Organizers hope participants leave with the knowledge needed to begin hunting safely and responsibly.
