SIMMESPORT, La. (UrbanCast: 9/4/2026) — Simmesport police arrested a man following a disturbance that escalated into a confrontation with officers.
The Simmesport Police Department identified the man as Scott Reine.
Officers responded around 5:45 p.m. to a property in the 500 block of Main Street. Police received a complaint about an unwanted person who allegedly refused to leave.
Police said the person also appeared possibly impaired.
When officers arrived, they made contact with Reine and gave him verbal commands. According to police, Reine allegedly refused to comply.
During the encounter, officers said they observed Reine carrying a makeshift knife and a whip. Police said he displayed the items in their presence.
Officers then deployed a Taser while attempting to take Reine into custody. Police allege Reine continued physically resisting before officers restrained him.
After officers placed Reine inside a police vehicle, the situation continued.
Police allege Reine intentionally began banging his head against the vehicle’s interior. Officers then transported him to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
Marksville Police Called to Assist at Hospital
According to Simmesport police, Reine allegedly continued displaying violent and disruptive behavior at the hospital.
The Marksville Police Department responded to assist Simmesport officers.
Police also allege Reine damaged hospital property during the incident.
After receiving medical attention, officers transported Reine to the Avoyelles Parish Jail.
Authorities booked Reine on charges of criminal trespass, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer by violence and aggravated assault.
The Simmesport Police Department thanked Marksville police and hospital personnel for assisting during the incident.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
