Body Found Near Gravel Pit Under Investigation in Rapides Parish

COTILE, La. (UrbanCast: 6/29/2026) — The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation after deputies discovered the remains of a deceased man near a gravel pit in the Cotile community Monday afternoon.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a report at approximately 4:15 p.m. of a body found near a gravel pit off St. Clair Road near Kendall Lane.

When deputies arrived, they located the remains of a deceased white male.

Sheriff’s detectives and the Crime Scene Unit responded to the location and began processing the scene. Investigators continue to gather evidence as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Once investigators complete their work, they will release the remains to the Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office.

Authorities have classified the location as an active crime scene. As a result, detectives are asking anyone with information to come forward.
