Ninth Consecutive Year Tuition Freeze Unanimously Approved by Louisiana Community and Technical College System Board of Supervisors
Alexandria, LA (July 17, 2024) – For the ninth consecutive year, Central Louisiana Technical Community College (CLTCC) tuition and fees will remain the same as they have been since 2015. This commitment to students will be for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year. This tuition freeze was supported by a unanimous vote by the Louisiana Community & Technical College Board of Supervisors at their June 2024 meeting. It is part of LCTCS’s and CLTCC’s focus on student access, affordability, and achievement for academic and workforce training.
“Today’s workforce landscape has tremendous opportunity for graduates to enter high-wage, high-demand, and high-skill careers right here in Central Louisiana,” said Chancellor Jimmy Sawtelle. “We encourage everyone to invest in themselves at CLTCC, especially now that we have expanded opportunities such as our new accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).”
In addition to this tuition freeze, CLTCC students have access to many student financial aid sources and free general education textbooks with many courses accepted at Cenla and Louisiana colleges and universities. For example, the United States federal Pell Grant program has awards that can be as high as $7,395 per year, and students can benefit from the “M.J. Foster Promise Program,” a financial aid award given on a first-come, first-served basis. Students may use these funds over three years to cover their tuition and fees – a benefit of a maximum $3,200 per award year with a lifetime benefit of $6,400.
“Last year saw tremendous successes with our largest Practical Nursing graduating class of 143, over 2,400 degrees, diplomas, certificates, and industry credentials awarded at our five campuses, Alexandria, Ferriday, Huey P. Long (Winnfield), Rod Brady (Jena), and Ward H. Nash-Avoyelles (Cottonport),” Sawtelle said. According to the college, an unprecedented number of student financial aid opportunities exist in addition to their free high school equivalency programs.
