Many, LA (3/1/2024) – Sheriff Aaron Mitchell of Sabine Parish reported the arrest of Darious Dejuan Brumfield, 39, of Many, on the evening of February 29, 2024, in connection with the drug overdose death of Brock Strahan, 43, also of Many, on December 11, 2023.
Sabine Parish Sheriff Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Brumfield for Second Degree Murder following an extensive investigation into Strahan’s tragic death. The investigation revealed that Strahan’s cause of death was a Fentanyl overdose supplied by Brumfield.
Detectives initiated their inquiry into Strahan’s death on the day of the incident, gathering evidence including toxicology and autopsy reports, cell phone records, and digital data, as well as witness testimony.
Several pills found at the scene tested positive for Fentanyl and methamphetamine. Messages exchanged between Strahan and Brumfield confirmed the purchase of the pills, and crucial evidence was also obtained from Strahan’s home video surveillance system.
On December 15, 2023, Detectives executed a search warrant at Brumfield’s apartment in Many, where they seized marijuana, methamphetamine, Ecstasy, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm. Brumfield was subsequently booked for Distribution of Schedule II substances in addition to the Second Degree Murder charge.
Brumfield has been incarcerated since his arrest on December 15th, and no bond has been set at this time.
Sheriff Mitchell emphasized the lethal nature of Fentanyl, a dangerous synthetic opioid, and pledged that his Tactical Narcotics Team Agents and Detectives would vigorously investigate cases involving narcotics that directly result in overdose deaths in Sabine Parish.
