Two Arrested Following Domestic Disturbance and SWAT Response in Penny Acres Subdivision

ALEXANDRIA, La. (6/5/2026) — A domestic disturbance in the Penny Acres subdivision, just outside the Alexandria city limits, led to a lengthy law enforcement response Thursday, including the deployment of the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT team.

According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 6400 block of Bouef Trace at approximately 2:40 p.m. on June 4 after receiving reports of a disturbance between a man and woman that allegedly involved a weapon.

While deputies were en route, dispatchers advised that both individuals had left the area in separate vehicles. Authorities later located and spoke with the victim, who reported that Stephen Dwayne Triggs Jr., 32, of Alexandria, struck them in the face with an object that may have been a firearm.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

As the investigation progressed, detectives returned to the Bouef Trace residence to execute a search warrant. While on scene, they observed a man matching Triggs’ description standing in the doorway.

However, when detectives attempted to make contact, Triggs retreated inside the residence and refused to speak with investigators.

Deputies and detectives continued communicating with Triggs by phone in an effort to secure a peaceful surrender. Nevertheless, he repeatedly refused to exit the home.

Investigators later developed information suggesting Triggs could be armed and that children were inside the residence. As a result, detectives requested assistance from the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT team.

The Penny Acres SWAT response drew a significant law enforcement presence to the subdivision Thursday evening. Residents reported seeing numerous patrol units, detectives, and tactical personnel in the area as negotiations continued.

Taken Into Custody Without Incident

After a brief standoff, Triggs exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident. Authorities said no weapons had been recovered as of Thursday night.

Meanwhile, detectives continued investigating the circumstances surrounding the disturbance. During that investigation, they determined Stephanie Jones, 33, was also an alleged aggressor.

When Jones returned to the scene after Triggs had been taken into custody, deputies arrested her as well.

Authorities said both Triggs and Jones will be charged with Domestic Abuse Battery with a Child Present. Triggs also faces an additional charge of Probation Violation.

Both were booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Booking photographs were not available at the time of the release.

Sheriff’s detectives said the investigation remains ongoing.
