Telvin Gullette Convicted of Second-Degree Murder

Alexandria, LA (9/26/2024) – On Thursday, September 26, 2024, Telvin Gullette was convicted of Second-Degree Murder by a Rapides Parish jury after approximately two hours of deliberation.

The conviction stems from the killing of Tre’ Wande “Cordell” Vallery, which occurred at 2227 East Sycamore in Alexandria, Louisiana. The jury found Gullette guilty after 270 days of investigations and proceedings.

The penalty for Second-Degree Murder in Louisiana is a mandatory life sentence, without the possibility of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. Judge Patricia Koch has scheduled Gullette’s sentencing hearing for October 9, 2024.

Felony Prosecutors Brian D. Cespiva and Gerry Weeks successfully argued the case on behalf of the state. The defendant was represented by A. Smith, III.

The victim’s mother, Crystal, expressed her gratitude to those involved in the case, saying, “I want to thank APD detective Chad Jeanssonne, Katie Frechie, ADA Brian Cespiva’s team, and the eyewitnesses that came forward to ensure the truth came out. My son’s killer was convicted and will spend the rest of his natural life paying for unjustly taking my only son. They did all of this in 270 days. To God be the glory. Now my son can rest peacefully, and my family can begin to heal.”

The conviction of Telvin Gullette for Second-Degree Murder brings some closure to the Vallery family, who endured the painful loss of a loved one. The community remains hopeful that justice has been served in this tragic case.
