SUSPECT ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH TORSO DISCOVERED IN CATAHOULA PARISH

Catahoula Parish, LA (4/24/2024) – Authorities have made a significant breakthrough in the homicide case of Sheryl Turner, a 19-year-old from New Iberia, La., whose torso was discovered in the Ouachita River of Catahoula Parish on January 24, 2024.

The Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office, alongside detectives and Coroner Raymond Rouse, responded to the scene and identified the torso as belonging to Sheryl Turner through DNA analysis.

Turner was last seen by her family on December 31, 2023, after she informed her twin sister that she had met someone in Ouachita Parish and was planning to move there. She also sent a text message to a family friend stating that she had reached West Monroe, La.

Following an extensive joint investigation involving the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office, West Monroe Police Department, Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, a breakthrough occurred on April 23, 2024. Anthony Pierce Holland, Jr., 29, of West Monroe, La., was arrested without incident. He has been charged with Second Degree Murder and booked into the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Toney Edwards of the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to everyone involved in bringing closure and justice to the Turner family. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the family and urged the community to keep them in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

The arrest of Holland marks a significant development in the case, offering hope for closure to the family and bringing the community one step closer to justice for Sheryl Turner.
