Alexandria, LA (9/5/2024) – Police arrested Anais Yvonne Brown, a 27-year-old woman from Simmesport, after a violent crime spree in Alexandria. Authorities charged her with multiple felonies, including aggravated kidnapping and home invasion.
The Alexandria Police Department responded to the situation around 7:15 AM. Brown forced her way into a home on Polk Street, holding residents at gunpoint and firing a shot. She fled on foot after the terrifying incident.
Shortly after, Brown carjacked a vehicle on White Street. She forced the driver to take her to an ATM on Jackson Street. She then abandoned that car and walked to a nearby parking lot on MacArthur Drive. There, she carjacked another vehicle and ordered the driver to leave the area.
Thanks to calls from concerned citizens, police located and stopped the stolen vehicle. Officers arrested Brown within 30 minutes. Fortunately, no one was injured during these events.
Alexandria Police Chief Chad Gremillion praised the quick response from officers and community members. “Their swift actions prevented further danger and led to a safe resolution,” Gremillion said.
Brown now faces several charges, including three counts of aggravated kidnapping, home invasion, illegal use of a weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. She remains in custody at the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Her bond is set at $900,000, divided across six separate bonds.
