Natchez, LA – (May 8, 2024) – Natichitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a shooting incident in Natchez, Louisiana, which has resulted in a homicide.
The incident, reported on May 7, 2024, prompted a swift response from deputies assigned to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office Operations Bureau.
At 8:16 pm, deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of La. Hwy 119 in Natchez following reports of a shooting received by the NATCOM 911 Center. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a victim with an apparent gunshot wound. Assistance was provided by personnel from the Natchitoches Police, Louisiana State Police, and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS.
Efforts to gather information and process the crime scene are underway, with five NPSO Sheriff’s Detectives tasked with interviewing potential witnesses. The victim was transported to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries but was later pronounced dead.
The investigation is in its early stages, with detectives actively pursuing leads to identify the suspect who fled the scene. Although La. Hwy 119 in Natchez was temporarily closed, it has since reopened to traffic. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes as residual delays may occur.
