Marksville, LA (May 12, 2025) – The Mother’s Day 2025 shooting in Marksville claimed the life of Jermaine Pierre early Sunday morning.
The shooting occurred around 2:00 a.m. outside a lounge on Spring Bayou Road, believed to be TJ’s Lounge. Witnesses described the gunfire as automatic.
Jermaine Pierre’s mother confirmed he was the victim. In a heartbreaking statement, she wrote, “Y’all really took my baby away from me. I’ll never be the same. What a way to start my Mother’s Day off.”
UrbanCast contacted the Marksville Police Department throughout Sunday and Monday. Calls were either redirected or went unanswered.
Marksville District 3 Councilman Torrick Friels expressed condolences but said he only knew what UrbanCast had reported. He referred all questions to Police Commissioner Michael Gremillion.
Gremillion directed UrbanCast to Police Chief Elster Smith, who did not respond. Assistant Chief Jason Brouillette said the incident appeared isolated but could not share additional information.
The Avoyelles Parish Coroner’s Office declined to provide any details, stating all information would come from the Marksville Police Department.
Community Has Expressed Grief and Outrage
The community has expressed grief and outrage following the tragedy. Stephanie Derozan wrote, “I’m really lost for words seeing how my daughter-in-law broke down. Please say a prayer for my son Travis Derosin and his wife Laken Miche. I’m praying for y’all and the rest of the family.”
Another commenter, Meg Jay, shared, “Very respectful young man. He always called me ‘Miss Meg’ no matter how much I fussed at him not to call me that. Sending prayers to his family. Lord, please wrap your hands around his mom. She needs you.”
