ALEXANDRIA, La. (UrbanCast: 6/9/2026) — An Marksville woman was arrested Tuesday after police found two young children unattended inside a vehicle during extreme heat conditions.
According to the Alexandria Police Department, officers responded around 12:45 p.m. to the 2600 block of South MacArthur Drive after receiving a report of children left alone in a vehicle.
When officers arrived, they located the vehicle and found two children, ages 2 and 3, inside.
Temperatures were in the upper 90s at the time. As a result, officers immediately requested medical assistance.
The Alexandria Fire Department and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene. Both children were evaluated and treated on site.
Police said investigators later located the vehicle’s owner, identified as 38-year-old Bianca Turner of Marksville, Louisiana, inside a nearby business.
Following the investigation, officers arrested Turner and charged her with two counts of cruelty to juveniles.
Police said leaving children unattended in a vehicle during hot weather can quickly create dangerous and potentially deadly conditions.
Authorities remind parents and caregivers that temperatures inside a vehicle can rise rapidly within minutes, even when windows are partially open.
The investigation remains ongoing.
