CLAYTON, La. (UrbanCast: 6/25/2026) — A Clayton man faces two counts of simple burglary after Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies identified him through surveillance footage following a business break-in.
Deputies responded to a 911 call around 2:50 a.m. on June 21 after a security alarm activated at a business along Highway 15 in Clayton. Although deputies did not find anyone inside the building, the investigation continued.
Later, the business owner met with deputies and provided surveillance video from the property. The footage showed a man behind the business before entering the building while carrying a trash bag shortly before the alarm sounded.
Investigators said the suspect attempted to hide his identity by wearing a hood and a bandanna over his face. However, the video later captured him walking away after removing the disguise.
As the investigation progressed, deputies identified the suspect as Troy Tate, 57, of Clayton. Authorities said Tate had previously performed electrical work at the business. Investigators also discovered he had an outstanding warrant for simple burglary.
Deputies located and arrested Tate later on June 21. He was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant and charged in connection with the business burglary.
Tate is charged with two counts of simple burglary.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations. Tate is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
