ALEXANDRIA, La. (UrbanCast: 7/8/2026) — The Alexandria Police Department’s homicide investigation into the death of 22-year-old Jakoby Kahey continues as one suspect has now been booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center while a second remains in custody in Texas awaiting extradition.
Kahey was reported missing on July 5. On Wednesday, the Alexandria Police Department announced that detectives had uncovered evidence of foul play and officially transitioned the case into a homicide investigation.
Authorities Arrested
Authorities arrested 25-year-old Daviyone Mock in Alexandria and 20-year-old Taylor Jenkins in Killeen, Texas. Both have been charged with second-degree murder.
Since the department’s initial announcement, the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office has released the booking photograph of Daviyone Mock following his booking into the Rapides Parish Detention Center.
Meanwhile, Taylor Jenkins remains in custody at the Bell County Jail in Texas. Public jail records indicate he is being held following his arrest in Killeen and is expected to face extradition to Louisiana. As of publication, Bell County has not publicly released a booking photograph of Jenkins.
Investigators have determined that Kahey is deceased. However, his remains have not yet been located, and detectives continue searching while pursuing additional investigative leads.
Police have also indicated that additional charges and arrests remain possible as the investigation progresses.
“This is a heartbreaking case for Mr. Kahey’s family, and our thoughts remain with them during this incredibly difficult time,” Alexandria Police Chief Chad Gremillion said.
“While these arrests represent significant progress, our work is far from over. We remain committed to locating Mr. Kahey’s remains, bringing every person responsible to justice, and providing his family with the answers and closure they deserve.”
The Alexandria Police Department credited the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) at Fort Cavazos and the Louisiana State Police for assisting with the investigation. Officials said their coordinated efforts helped identify and apprehend the suspects.
