Baton Rouge pair arrested in Redding, California; 215 pounds of marijuana seized

Redding, CA (1/17/2023) – According to Redding Police Department (RPD), two Baton Rouge, Louisiana residents were arrested.

On January 15, 2023, at approximately 7:30 P.M., a Redding officer observed a suspicious vehicle parked at a gas station on Eureka Way in Redding. During the investigation, the officer learned the vehicle was a rental car and that it left Oakland, California, on the morning of January 15, 2023. After seeing the officer, the occupant’s behavior became increasingly suspicious, prompting contact by the officer.

During the contact, the officer observed several large black bags in plain sight in the back of the vehicle; according to police, it was obvious that they contained marijuana.

Nearly 215 pounds of marijuana was seized, and two loaded handguns were located under the seats of both occupants. The driver of the vehicle, Andrew WILLIAMS, 32 years of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was arrested and booked for Possession of Marijuana for Sale, Carrying a Concealed Firearm in a Vehicle, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. The passenger, Chantel KNOX, 32 years of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was cited for Possession of Marijuana for Sale and Possession of a Concealed Firearm.
