Bunkie Murder Arrest Raises Questions as Residents Await Police Statement – APSO Bookings Oct 12 – 18

MARKSVILLE, La. (UrbanCast: 10/21/2026) — A second-degree murder charge in an Avoyelles Parish arrest report has raised questions among Bunkie residents seeking answers about the investigation.

The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office released its October 19 media information report, identifying 27 individuals booked between October 12 and October 18.

Among those listed is Kemonte Dixon, 21, of Bunkie, who was booked October 16 on a second-degree murder charge.

The report also lists principals and discharging a firearm inside city limits. Additionally, it lists solicitation of membership in a criminal street gang.

The Sheriff’s Office confirmed to UrbanCast that the Bunkie Police Department made Dixon’s arrest.

UrbanCast Seeks Details From Bunkie Police

On Monday, October 19, UrbanCast contacted Bunkie Police seeking information about the homicide investigation connected to Dixon’s arrest.

During that conversation, department personnel indicated that a formal press release would follow.

However, by Wednesday morning, October 21, UrbanCast had not received the anticipated information.

At approximately 9:45 a.m., UrbanCast contacted Bunkie Police again, hoping to obtain an update.

The person answering the telephone stated, “they are not in at this time.”

The conversation provided no additional information about the homicide investigation or when the department might issue its statement.

Meanwhile, several members of the Bunkie community have questioned the lack of publicly available information surrounding the case.

Some residents have contacted UrbanCast seeking clarification about the incident connected to Dixon’s arrest. Others have questioned why authorities have not publicly addressed the circumstances surrounding such a serious charge.

Those concerns highlight the importance of timely, accurate information when an arrest involves allegations of homicide.

As of Wednesday morning, UrbanCast had not independently confirmed the alleged homicide’s date, location, victim, or circumstances.

The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office provided the official booking information and confirmed Bunkie Police as the arresting department. UrbanCast has directed its requests for investigative details to Bunkie Police.

Other Serious Charges Appear in Avoyelles Parish Arrest Report

Dixon’s arrest is among several notable bookings documented in the Sheriff’s Office’s six-page report.

Additionally, the report includes bookings involving drug offenses, domestic abuse, impaired driving, probation violations, and outstanding court matters.

The Sheriff’s Office’s media information report documents individuals booked into custody and the offenses listed at booking.

These records do not establish guilt or provide the complete circumstances surrounding each arrest.

UrbanCast will continue seeking publicly releasable information from Bunkie Police and provide updates as additional details become available.

All individuals named in this report are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Arrests and booking records reflect allegations, not convictions.
