Pineville, La. (UrbanCast: 8/21/2026) – Three 17-year-olds were arrested Friday following an investigation into reported gunfire on Messer Street in Pineville.
The Pineville Police Department responded to the 100 block of Messer Street on August 21. Officers went to the area after receiving reports of gunshots.
When officers arrived, they found evidence that at least one firearm had been discharged.
Police initially detained four people while investigators examined the incident. Following the investigation, officers arrested three of them.
Police identified those arrested as Treyvion Miller, Ezekial Hayward and Lawrence Kimble, all 17.
Each faces charges of illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities and possession of a handgun by a juvenile.
The charges are listed under Louisiana Revised Statutes 14:94 and 14:95.8.
Police booked all three into the Rapides Parish Detention Center I.
Investigators also recovered multiple firearms during the investigation. Police seized the weapons as evidence and said they will be submitted for prosecution.
Earlier Friday, PPD reported finding multiple spent shell casings at the scene. At that time, police said no injuries had been reported.
Police also said there was no evidence indicating anyone had been targeted by the gunfire.
Following the arrests, PPD issued a broader warning about gunfire within the city.
“We will not wait until someone is shot, seriously injured, or killed before we take action,” the department said.
PPD also urged parents, guardians and community members to speak with young people about firearms.
“Put the guns down. Choose a different path,” the department said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law or administrative action.
