HAMMOND, La. (6/8/2026) — A Hammond man faces multiple child sexual abuse material charges following an investigation led by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation.
Attorney General Liz Murrill announced that Louisiana Bureau of Investigation agents arrested 50-year-old Kevin Dewayne Turpin of Ard Lane in Hammond. The arrest followed a tip received from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
According to investigators, the tip prompted an investigation that ultimately led to Turpin’s arrest and the filing of multiple felony charges.
Authorities arrested Turpin on May 28, 2026. On that date, he was charged with 13 counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material under Louisiana Revised Statute 14:81.1. He was also charged as a fugitive from another jurisdiction in connection with a child sexual abuse material case.
The investigation continued after the arrest. As a result, agents obtained additional charges on June 4, 2026. Those charges include 11 counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material Under the Age of 13.
Joint Investigation
The case involved a joint investigation by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Turpin was booked on the initial charges in Lincoln Parish. Upon release, authorities said he will be extradited to Tangipahoa Parish. There, he is wanted on five additional counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material Under the Age of 13.
Court records show Turpin’s bond was set at $360,000 for the initial charges. An additional bond of $195,000 was set for the charges filed on June 4.
“We will continue working with all our law enforcement partners to identify offenders, protect children, and hold those who exploit Louisiana’s children accountable,” Attorney General Murrill said in a statement.
Meanwhile, investigators said the case remains active. Authorities indicated that additional charges could be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
Anyone with information related to Turpin’s activities is encouraged to contact the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation at (225) 326-6100.
