MADISONVILLE, La. (6/8/2026) — Louisiana Bureau of Investigation agents arrested a second suspect in a Madisonville restaurant attack that occurred on Friday, May 29, 2026.

Attorney General Liz Murrill announced that agents arrested Gregory Jules Saurage in connection with the incident. Investigators identified Saurage as a participant during the course of the investigation.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, agents determined that Saurage identified the victim to St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith. Investigators also believe Saurage encouraged or incited the attack.

Saurage was charged with one felony count of Principal to Second Degree Battery under Louisiana Revised Statutes 14:24 and 14:34.1.

Saurage surrendered to LBI agents at the St. Tammany Parish Jail at approximately 1:30 p.m. on June 8, 2026.

The arrest follows charges filed against Sheriff Randy Smith on Thursday, June 4. Authorities charged Smith for his alleged role in the same Madisonville restaurant attack.

Smith faces one count of Second Degree Battery. He also faces Disturbing the Peace by Engaging in a Fistic Encounter. In addition, authorities charged him with Disturbing the Peace While Appearing in an Intoxicated Condition.

Smith turned himself in at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on Thursday. He has since bonded out.

Meanwhile, the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not released additional details about possible future charges.

The arrest warrant is available for public review.
