Gonzales Teen Dies Following Motorcycle Crash in Ascension Parish

GONZALES, La.(5/31/2026) — A 19-year-old Gonzales man has died after a motorcycle crash in Ascension Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.

Troopers said the crash happened shortly before 7 a.m. on May 30 along LA 73 near Duplessis Road in Prairieville. Investigators identified the rider as Jacobi Clement, 19, of Gonzales.

According to the preliminary investigation, Clement was traveling north on LA 73 while riding a 2025 Kawasaki Ninja 650. However, for reasons that remain under investigation, he failed to negotiate a slight left curve.

As a result, the motorcycle traveled off the right side of the roadway and crashed.

Emergency responders transported Clement to a local hospital with serious injuries. He was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash.

Then, on the morning of May 31, Louisiana State Police received notification that Clement had succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced deceased at approximately 8:35 a.m.

Investigators do not suspect impairment played a role in the crash. Nevertheless, troopers collected routine toxicology samples and submitted them for analysis.

The Ascension Parish motorcycle crash remains under investigation.

State Police reminded motorists to avoid driving while impaired, distracted, or fatigued. Troopers also urged motorcycle riders to wear proper safety equipment and consider completing an approved motorcycle safety course.
