Vivian Officer Killed While Serving Search Warrant; Suspect Arrested After Standoff

Vivian, LA (11/15/2025) – A Vivian officer was killed Friday evening, marking a painful night for the small community. The Vivian officer killed was serving a search warrant when gunfire erupted on N Pine Street. The loss has shaken residents and law enforcement across Caddo Parish.

The shooting began around 5:28 p.m. when officers attempted to serve a warrant related to cyberstalking. As they approached the door, the suspect fired several rounds through the closed door. The shots struck a Vivian officer, who was rushed to a Shreveport area hospital. Sadly, he died shortly after arrival.

Meanwhile, the suspect barricaded himself inside the home. Law enforcement quickly surrounded the property, and the response expanded within minutes. Over 50 units arrived from agencies including the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, Vivian Police, SWAT, Louisiana State Police, Minden Police, and Shreveport Police.

Caddo Parish PIO Breck Scott confirmed no hostages were inside during the tense hours. Officers worked carefully as they attempted to bring the situation to a safe conclusion. The standoff lasted about three hours as negotiators tried to reach the suspect.

Just after 9 p.m., the man walked out and surrendered. Deputies arrested 58-year-old Nicholas Edward Alexander and transported him to Caddo Correctional Center. He was booked on charges of Second Degree Murder and Cyberstalking. Investigators noted that more charges may follow.

No additional officers were injured. However, the loss weighs heavily on the department and the community. Residents nearby gathered quietly, offering prayers and support as word spread of the fallen officer.

The investigation remains active as detectives review evidence and interview witnesses. Officials expect to release the officer’s name once proper notifications are made. The community continues to grieve as law enforcement families support one another through an unimaginable night.
