Peabody Green Dominates to Win Cenla Alumni Tournament 2025

ALEXANDRIA, La. (7/22/2025) – The Cenla Alumni Tournament 2025 turned Alexandria Senior High into a hub of excitement on July 19–20 as alumni teams from across Central Louisiana battled for bragging rights and a $1,500 prize. Fans filled the gym to witness old rivals clash in an electric atmosphere filled with music, competition, and school spirit.

Peabody Green proved unstoppable, going undefeated in pool play and powering through bracket play to take the championship. They defeated ASH 67–59 in a thrilling final, capping an impressive run in both stages of the tournament.

Pool Play Summary

Nine pool play games set the tone for a competitive weekend:

• Marksville 58 – 51 Bolton

• Peabody Black 85 – 67 Menard

• Peabody Green 90 – 84 Pineville

• ASH 49 – 45 Marksville

• Pineville 74 – 67 Winnfield

• Charles Smith Academy 93 – 73 Winnfield

• Peabody Green 77 – 71 Peabody Black

• ASH 57 – 52 Charles Smith Academy

• Menard 58 – 55 Bolton

These results determined the seeding for the single-elimination championship bracket.

Semifinals Recap

In the semifinals, Peabody Green and ASH both delivered statement wins:

• Peabody Green 72 – 64 Charles Smith Academy

• ASH 66 – 58 Pineville

Both teams advanced to set up a much-anticipated championship matchup between two of the tournament’s strongest squads.

Championship Game

In the final, Peabody Green’s balanced attack and defensive pressure proved too much for ASH. They secured the title with a 67–59 victory, earning not only bragging rights but also the $1,500 cash prize. ASH fought hard but fell just short against a Peabody Green squad that looked dominant all weekend. Joining them for the championship photo was Coach Charles Smith, their former coach and 2024 Naismith Award inductee.

A Celebration of Alumni Basketball

The Cenla Alumni Tournament blended competition and community pride. DJ Troy kept the energy high as fans cheered their favorite alumni teams. The tournament continues to grow as a signature summer event in Central Louisiana, promising even bigger things in 2026.
