RAPIDES PARISH, LA (5/9/2025) – An Acme woman was killed in a crash on LA Hwy 28 East Thursday afternoon in Rapides Parish.
Louisiana State Police responded around 4:00 p.m. to a three-vehicle crash at LA 28 East and Rosier Road.
Investigators say 33-year-old Gretchen A. Lucas, driving a 2019 Honda Pilot, failed to slow for a turning truck.
Her vehicle struck a 2013 Peterbilt preparing to turn left, pushing the Honda into oncoming traffic.
A westbound 2020 Freightliner then struck the Honda. Lucas, who wore a seatbelt, died at the scene.
The Peterbilt driver was not injured. The Freightliner driver suffered moderate injuries and was hospitalized.
The Acme woman killed in the crash on LA Hwy 28 East was restrained, as were the other drivers.
Toxicology samples were taken for analysis. The crash remains under investigation by Louisiana State Police.
Authorities remind drivers that distracted and inattentive driving continues to cause fatal accidents across the state.
