Alexandria City Council to Discuss Key Projects and Resolutions on February 25

ALEXANDRIA, La. (2/19/2025) – The Alexandria City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.

Residents can attend in person or watch the live broadcast on UrbanCast.

The agenda includes approving minutes from the February 11 meeting and hearing a report from Marilyn Jones of Unforgotten Veterans of Cenla. Council members will also introduce an ordinance allowing the mayor to accept street and drainage improvements for Adrienne Drive in the Hope House of Central Louisiana Residential Development Subdivision.

Additional ordinances include executing an Entity State Agreement for a Capital Improvement Metropolitan Planning Organization Project on Masonic Drive from Texas Avenue to Lee Street.

Resolutions on the agenda include:

  • Calling a special election for a tax renewal vote.
  • Co-sponsoring PFLAG Alexandria’s Come Out for Health event in March.
  • Supporting the Louisiana Brownfield Conference in June.
  • Co-sponsoring the Lauren Vaughn 5K in April.
  • Adopting the 2024 Municipal Water Pollution Prevention Audit.
  • Advertising for bids on electric meters, wastewater chemicals, and street enhancements.
  • Supporting 318 United LLC’s Basketball League.
  • Adopting HUD’s 2025-2029 Five-Year Consolidated Plan and 2025-2026 Annual Action Plan.

The Alexandria City Council meeting provides an opportunity for residents to engage in local government. Those wishing to speak must inform the council president during the appropriate agenda item.
