Heartbreaking Daylight Homicide on 4th Street in Alexandria

Alexandria, LA (May 29, 2024) – On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at approximately 9:10 AM, the Alexandria Police Department responded to a troubling incident involving a vehicle crash and a fatal shooting. Officers arrived at the 2900 block of 3rd Street to find a vehicle that had collided with a building.

Inside the vehicle, police found 23-year-old Kalen Dubois of Alexandria, LA, unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. Dubois was transported to a local hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries. Preliminary investigations indicate that the shooting took place in the 2900 block of 4th Street, leading Dubois to lose control of his vehicle and crash.

The daylight violence has left residents of the Lower Third Area deeply unsettled. Many locals expressed their fears about the safety of their neighborhood, questioning the security in the wake of such a brazen attack. Despite these concerns, an Alexandria Police Department spokesperson reassured residents that there is no ongoing threat to their safety.

In the wake of increasing crime in the city, UrbanCast/InvolvedInItAll.com reached out to several city council members, including Jim Villard (At-Large & President), Lee Rubin (At-Large), and Cynthia Perry (District #3), for comments. However, none of them responded. It is noteworthy that Rubin and Perry are up for re-election in the fall.

Despite a shortage of police officers, the Alexandria Police Department stated that the investigation is ongoing.
