Alexandria, LA (1/23/2024) – The Alexandria Police Department (APD) is reaching out to the public for help in locating a stolen vehicle following an incident on Saturday, January 20, 2024. At approximately 10:30 PM, officers responded to a report of a stolen red 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe from the 2900 block of South MacArthur Drive.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the owner had left the vehicle running and unattended at a gas pump while going inside to pay. A white male took advantage of the opportunity and entered the vehicle. The owner attempted to intervene but was struck by the fleeing vehicle, sustaining minor injuries.
In response to this incident, the APD emphasizes the importance of never leaving vehicles unattended with the engine running. They advise the public to always turn off the engine and lock doors when stepping inside a store to prevent such incidents.
The case is currently under investigation, and the police urge anyone with information to come forward.
