From the desk of Councilwoman, Clerice Lacy I’m heartbroken 💔 and deeply saddened about tonight’s tragic event. As a leader it’s always our desire to have a safe place to live in for our communities in which we serve. The senseless act of violence that occurred during our opening game between Port Allen High vs. Brusly High ended in the life of a 15 year old student being killed and a woman being injured. My prayers go out to the victim families, to both of our high school students, to the parents and to our community as a whole. I was in attendance tonight and only feet away from the shooting. I witnessed the devastation and traumatic moment as so many others. The aftermath of this tragedy will take a lot of healing. As a parish we must stand together and support one another during these difficult times especially our children. ❤️💙 This day will never be forgotten, but we must stand strong. As a constant plea, I asked that we please put the guns down!!! Please stop the violence and the senseless killings. Please speak up!! If you know something say something because it could have happened to anyone of us. As we lay down tonight please pray 🙏🏾 for one other. May God’s peace be with the City of Port Allen and the Parish of West Baton Rouge.
No arrests were made immediately after the shooting, according to officials.
Port Allen is located on the western shore of the Mississippi River, across from the City of Baton Rouge.
