MARKSVILLE, La. (11/30/2024) – Howard Williams, an 18-year-old Marksville High School graduate, was fatally shot by an Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office detective on November 25, 2024. The incident occurred near the Bethune Community Center in Marksville during an investigation into recent shootings.
The Louisiana State Police revealed that the deputy discharged his firearm during an encounter on Scallan Street involving multiple individuals. A firearm was reportedly found near Williams at the scene. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Williams’ mother identified her son publicly, sharing that he was a 2024 graduate of Marksville High School and was scheduled to work at Walmart that evening. She expressed deep grief over the loss of her son, describing him as a young man with a bright future.
