Colfax, La. (4/24/2026) – The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Grant Parish home improvement fraud case involving an asphalt company. Deputies say multiple residents reported issues before projects were completed.
According to authorities, complainants claimed the company raised prices mid-project without justification. In addition, several residents said the completed work did not match what was originally promised.
As a result of the investigation, deputies arrested Brett Barragan, 41, of Baton Rouge. He faces three counts of criminal conspiracy and three counts of home improvement fraud.
Similarly, Brian Wright, 31, of Gonzales, was also arrested. He faces three counts of criminal conspiracy and three counts of home improvement fraud.
Investigators continue to review complaints connected to the case. Officials have not said if additional charges or arrests are expected.
