Alexandria, LA (2/6/2024) – The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office (RPSO) has arrested two Alexandria men in connection to the tragic death of a 16-year-old girl who fell victim to gun violence on Monday evening.

The incident unfolded around 6 PM in the 4900 block of Victoria Drive, prompting a response from patrol deputies who were alerted to reports of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, deputies discovered evidence of a shooting, prompting the deployment of Sheriff’s Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit to conduct a comprehensive investigation.

Shortly after, deputies identified Tayshaun Lamar Spearman, 19, of Alexandria, as a person of interest in the incident. However, his bond was rescinded on the Alexandria Police Department (APD) arrest warrant for 2nd-degree murder and armed robbery.

At approximately 11:40 PM, patrol deputies were once again dispatched to the 4900 block of Victoria Drive in response to further reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a juvenile victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital by Acadian Ambulance but tragically succumbed to their injuries. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Additionally, another individual believed to be involved in the incident was transported to a local hospital by personal vehicle, currently in critical condition.

In addition to Spearman, another person of interest in the investigation, Malik Hampton, 20, of Alexandria, was arrested on outstanding warrants issued by the Alexandria Police Department (APD).
