Vernon Parish, LA. (12/21/2022) – A Vernon Parish Judge sentenced the three people for child abuse. The Vernon Parish Sheriff describes the abuse as the “worst case of child abuse.” he has ever witnessed in the parish.
Clayton Allen Fulks was found guilty of three counts of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile in October 2022. Fulks was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor; each count will be served consecutively for 45 years.
Stacy Tharpe and Dakota Singletary were each found guilty of one count of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile in October 2022. Tharpe and Singletary testified against Fulks in his trial. Tharpe was sentenced to ten years of hard labor. Singletary was sentenced to twenty years of hard labor.
According to Judge Westerchil some of the things the child was forced to endure included: forcing her to drink hot sauce, pulling her hair out, strangling her with a belt, burning her with cigarettes, and starving her.
