Three Killed, One Critical After Shreveport House Fire on Kemp Lane

SHREVEPORT, La. (4/6/2025) – A Shreveport house fire claimed three lives and critically injured a fourth person early Sunday morning on April 6, 2025.

At 6:38 AM, the Shreveport Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a fire in the 2400 block of Kemp Lane. Engine 6 arrived within five minutes and found flames coming from the front of the one-story home.

Thirty-one firefighters from thirteen units battled the blaze to bring it under control. During their search, they located four victims believed to be the occupants. Life-saving efforts were performed immediately on scene.

All four victims were transported to nearby hospitals. Three were later pronounced dead. The fourth remains in critical condition.

The fire is believed to have started in the front room, although the official cause is still under investigation. Shreveport Fire Investigators and the Office of Louisiana State Fire Marshal are handling the case.

The Shreveport house fire also revealed the home had no visible smoke alarms installed. Officials stress the importance of having working alarms. These alarms provide early warning and give residents a chance to escape.

Fire Chief Clarence Reese expressed his condolences: “Our hearts and our prayers go out to this family and also to this community.”

The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office will release the identities and official causes of death.

Residents are urged to test smoke alarms monthly. If a household lacks one, the Shreveport Fire Department offers free installation.
