VIENNA, Ga. (UrbanCast: 10/4/2026) — A neighborhood block party in south-central Georgia turned deadly early Sunday after gunfire erupted in Vienna.
The shooting left two people dead and 35 others injured, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The Dooly County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI’s assistance with the investigation.
Deputies were patrolling the neighborhood block party when shots rang out around 1:25 a.m. Investigators said the gunfire came from the 900 block of Pine Street.
Deputies immediately responded and found multiple people suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency crews transported victims to several regional hospitals for treatment.
Authorities also found two people in the 600 block of Pine Street. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials have not released the victims’ names or additional information about those injured. The GBI also has not announced any arrests or identified a suspected shooter.
The two deceased victims will undergo autopsies at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office.
Meanwhile, investigators continue working to determine what led to the shooting. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
