Alexandria, LA – (9/24/2024) – More than 36 hours have passed since shots were fired at Frank O. Hunter Park, and city officials have yet to provide any updates. The incident occurred around 9:15 PM on Monday, September 23, 2024, with multiple shots reported near the pavilion and restrooms.
It was reported that a person was shot in the leg during the incident, though no official confirmation has been given. Families with small children were in the park during the gunfire, and at least one vehicle sustained damage, with windows shattered by bullets.
A concerned neighborhood resident expressed alarm, saying, “I find it alarming this happened because we haven’t seen this type of violence in this park in a long time.”
Despite these reports, authorities have not released details about the number of shots, potential suspects, or injuries. Alexandria Police secured the crime scene and placed evidence markers, but there has been no official statement from city officials.
