Shooting on Jackson Street: One Dead, Two Injured, Gunman Turns Weapon on Himself

Alexandria, LA (9/13/24) – A shooting on Jackson Street on Friday evening resulted in the death of one person and left two others critically injured.

The Alexandria Police Department responded to a domestic-related incident at approximately 7:30 PM in the 3400 block of Jackson Street, where a male subject opened fire inside a business.

The gunman shot three individuals before turning the weapon on himself and ending his life. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other two remain in critical condition at a local hospital. Authorities are withholding the names of those involved until their families are notified.

Alexandria Police Chief Chad Gremillion addressed the public at the scene, ensuring that the situation was under control. “There is no ongoing threat to public safety,” Chief Gremillion said, acknowledging the tragedy.

The Alexandria Police Department is actively investigating the shooting on Jackson Street and is urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Other agencies that responded to the scene included the Alexandria Fire Department, Louisiana State Police, and a local ambulance service.
