Alexandria, LA (September 14, 2024) – The Alexandria Police Department responded to a tragic shooting on Saturday morning, September 14, 2024, in the 2900 block of Cypress Street. Officers arrived on the scene at approximately 8:45 AM and found a 12-year-old girl deceased from a gunshot wound.
A second individual, who also sustained a gunshot wound, was transported to a local hospital. Authorities report that the individual is in stable condition.
UrbanCast was notified about the Cypress Street shooting at around 9:45 AM. Upon arrival, the area was cordoned off with police crime scene tape, and both marked and unmarked police units were visible. In total, around twelve police vehicles were stationed at the location, indicating a large investigative presence.
Detectives actively collected evidence, and officers were seen investigating the crime scene. The exact details leading up to the shooting are not yet clear.
