Sabine Parish, LA (8/6/2024) – A Many man died in Sabine Parish crash on Louisiana Highway 175O. On August 5, 2024, Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a tragic crash in Sabine Parish.
The crash occurred on Louisiana Highway 175, north of Louisiana Highway 174. The incident resulted in the death of 75-year-old Lonnie M. Lyddy from Many.
The crash involved a 2023 GMC 2500 driven by Lyddy. As the vehicle traveled south on Louisiana Highway 175, it veered off the road. Lyddy’s vehicle went down a ditch embankment before crashing into a tree. The reasons for the vehicle leaving the roadway are still under investigation.
Lyddy, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary findings suggest impairment might have played a role in this crash. Routine toxicology samples have been collected for further analysis.
Louisiana State Police remind motorists that impaired driving can lead to fatal consequences. Alcohol and drugs significantly impair driving abilities, including vision, reaction time, and motor skills. Plan ahead and choose a sober driver to prevent such tragic outcomes.
The crash remains under investigation by the Louisiana State Police.
