Colfax, La. (5/18/2026) – Grant Parish child solicitation arrest investigators say led to the capture of a Lake Arthur man accused of attempting to meet a child for sexual purposes.
The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office said its investigation resulted in the arrest of Charles James Chiasson, 56, of Lake Arthur.
According to authorities, Chiasson believed he was communicating online with a young girl in Grant Parish. Investigators said he later traveled to Grant Parish to meet the child.
However, detectives with the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office met Chiasson when he arrived.
Authorities also said Chiasson brought methamphetamine with him during the planned meeting.
Sheriff Steven McCain praised the work of investigators involved in the case.
“The detective did an incredible job of investigating this case. This is a true predator and our communities are safer with him in jail,” McCain stated.
The Grant Parish child solicitation arrest resulted in several charges against Chiasson. He was booked for Computer Aided Solicitation for Sexual Purposes, Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile, and Possession of Methamphetamine.
The investigation remains ongoing.
