Avoyelles, La. (5/6/2026) — A former Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office corrections employee is facing felony charges following an investigation at the parish jail facility.
Sheriff David L. Dauzat announced the arrest of 56-year-old Tara Lynn Warren of Marksville. Warren previously worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the APSO DC-1 facility.
According to APSO, the Criminal Investigations Unit launched an illegal contraband investigation on April 22, 2026. Investigators said the case centered around activity inside the DC-1 correctional facility.
After conducting the investigation, authorities arrested Warren on April 29, 2026. The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office also terminated her employment.
Warren faces two felony charges. Those charges include malfeasance in office and introduction of contraband into a penal institution.
Authorities booked Warren into the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office jail. Her bond was set at $25,000. She later secured her release after posting bond on April 29.
Meanwhile, Sheriff Dauzat said the investigation remains active. He also stated that additional arrests are likely as investigators continue reviewing the case.
The Avoyelles Parish corrections nurse arrested case remains under investigation.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
