Keachi, LA (9/22/2024) – A DeSoto Parish Fire Chief was arrested for DWI after a single-vehicle crash on September 21, 2024, in Keachi, Louisiana.
Louisiana State Police responded to the incident at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 5 and Highway 172.
The fire chief, 39-year-old Mark Magee, was driving a 2022 Ford F-250 assigned to Fire District 1 when he lost control of the vehicle. The truck veered off the road and struck a fire hydrant. Troopers on the scene detected signs of impairment and conducted further investigation.
Magee was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) and careless operation of a vehicle. A blood sample was collected for analysis, and results are pending.
The vehicle was unmarked but equipped with emergency lights. The investigation is ongoing.
